Welcome to this weeks dream garage. I saw one of these on the street the other day and I cannot shake the desire from my head. I have read the reviews in Car and Driver, R&T and the /Drive videos. Yes, a Cayman is the more reasonable (better performance) buy, but this has character and sense of occasion the Cayman lacks.

Any Jalops in line to own one of these? I might have to be in a few years if the car proves to avoid self-immolation and breakdown.

I would love a 4C. An 8C would be awesome, but I think I would be just as happy with a 4C, maybe even more so.

I would probably be trying to figure out how to get my hands on one if it came with three pedals, but it doesn't. It looks like a ton of people pre-ordered them only to find that they don't fit once it arrives, so I'm anticipating a pretty low resale value in a couple of years.

Please bring it down... muahahaha. It seems almost too cheap for the value it brings.

In my head it brings a fantastic minimal italian style interior with polarizing looks and a weekend car appeal. If I can get it out the door for less than $60K new (45K used), holy hell. I have one stick shift car, depending on how good the DCT is I might let it slide.

From what I've read, the 8C is a gorgeous car that drives terribly for its market bracket. The 4C, on the other hand, drives very well (just not as well as a Cayman).

I'd take the 4C. With the US spec headlights, though.

I've heard that, and it's part of why I might go for the 4C over the 8C. But the guy that runs my local C&C has an 8C Competitzione that is quite the nice looking car.

I just wish the car was a wee tiny bit cheaper, because for the money, I'd rather go another $10k for a hellcat, or save $20k and get a fully loaded Miata, and use that extra money for some go-fast parts.

Obviously, a used one wont be quite as expensive, and if it became something I could afford rather easily, I probably would very seriously consider it, but the new price is just too close to far more tempting things.... or just high enough to make me want to go with something else entirely.

This is where the test-drives come in. If you are seriously considering buying a car at this price point, you are going to drive them. If this is a toy car, and it sounds like it would be, you really need to go with the one that makes you happiest during the drive. Trying to factor in practicality, maintenance, blah, blah, blah for a toy car is how you end up with regrets.

It's not that I'm trying to factor practicality, it's that in that given price range, its so close to a Hellcat, but enough money to build a stupid fast Miata as well. But I do appreciate the 4C for what it is, and I'll go for whatever headlights they stick in it. I don't have to look at them much, so I don't really care.
